Emeralds
The deep, living green of the world's most coveted emeralds.
One-of-a-kind creations drawn into the cornflower-blue depths of the rarest sapphires, each stone selected for its velvet saturation and finished entirely by hand in the Ralph Karouni atelier.
Formed across millennia in the heart of the earth, a fine sapphire arrives in the atelier already complete. Our role is simply to reveal it.
A single line of pavé diamonds gathers momentum around the neck until it breaks into a spray of light, an oval royal-blue sapphire held just off centre where the brilliance is deepest.
No two sapphires hold the light in quite the same way. Each composition begins with a colour, and every detail thereafter answers to it.
Lines of graduated oval diamonds fall from the ear, each carrying a single oval sapphire whose blue deepens with every movement. Worn together, the pair frames the face in light.
Every creation begins on paper, painted stone by stone in gouache. The sapphires are chosen and matched against the rendering before a single claw is raised.
A rivière of graduated oval diamonds narrows to a single point of colour, an oval sapphire suspended beneath a pear-shaped diamond, gathering the light with every breath.
An oval sapphire of vivid saturation worn at the end of a graduated diamond line, its colour left to speak alone against the skin.
From the first prototype to the setter's wax, one creation passes through many hands. Each stage is measured against the design until nothing is left to refine.
In the finisher's hands the completed necklace receives its final light. The structure disappears; only radiance remains.
